Tinnitus Remedies-Reducing Stress
Do you find that your tinnitus is worse after a hard day at the office? After rushing around in the morning getting the kids to school, the ringing in your ears becomes intolerable? A serious argument with a spouse or family member leads to a whistling in your head?
Stress has a number of negative effects on our bodies and our well-being. One such effect is tinnitus.
In your battle to remedy tinnitus, the first thing on your to-do list should be to reduce your stress levels. In your every-day life there are a number of things you can do-
Task Management
Don’t get overwhelmed with tasks at work or at home. Trying to do 5 things at once is a sure-fire way to boost your stress levels, so take on one thing at a time. Learn how to say ‘no’. Whether it be your boss or your children, make people realize that there is only one of you and constant demands for your time or attention will result in you becoming stressed, consequently making your tinnitus worse.
Physical Activity
Pressure and anger releases adrenaline into your body, exercise, or many other physical activities, help reduce it by releasing ‘happy’ substances in your brain reducing your stress levels. I’m not saying you have to hit the gym for two hours every day, just a walk round the block, wash the car, mow the lawn, sort out that cupboard you’ve been putting off for months. Anything physical that doesn’t require much concentration is a great way to combat stress. Definitely one of the best tinnitus remedies.
Sleep
Sleeping for 5-6 hours every night is not enough. Your body needs sleep to function properly as this is when it recharges. Sleep deprivation is one of the most overlooked causes of stress, but every-day life can seem unbearable when you are tired. The ironic thing is, you probably notice your tinnitus more when you are laying there trying to sleep as everything is quiet and there isn’t any distraction for your brain.
Alcohol, Nicotine and Caffeine
Cutting all these things out of your diet is practically impossible, in my opinion, as i don’t know anyone who doesn’t smoke, drink tea and coffee or enjoy a pint after work.
1000
All these things are stimulates so could never calm you down if you are stressed. I would only suggest minimizing them if you are stressed and trying to drink at least 1.5 litres of water per day.
Enjoy A Stress Reliever Every Day
Whether it be reading a book or yoga meditation. A period of your day for some ‘me’ time to forget about the everyday grind. Breathing or stretching exercises, calming music, self-hypnosis are just a few things you can do to reduce stress. But you must be consistent with this, there’s no point missing your relaxing time 3 days out of seven. It is a must that you devote a set time for yourself every day to decrease your stress levels and remedy tinnitus.
A combination of all these things will reduce the degree of stress your body endures. As stress is a major cause of tinnitus this should be on the top of your ‘remedy tinnitus’ list.
