Insomnia Can be Treated With Traditional Medicine and Herbal Sleep Aids

October 13th, 2009   Filed Under sleep apnea, snoring, snoring cure

Insomnia is a serious condition that many people suffer from and it deprives them of a good night’s sleep. A typical complaint from an insomniac is not being able to close their eyes or rest their mind for over a few minutes at a time. Insomnia can happen without any real reason and in other instances there is underlying problem. Too much activity and physical pain can be causes for someone not to be sleeping at night.

To resolve the problem of insomnia, you have to discover the cause. It’s also been found that not eating has contributed to someone not sleeping. There are three types of insomnia.

Medication is the most common way to treat insomnia and Ambien, Rozerem and Lunesta are some of the prescriptions used.

Sleeping disorders are becoming more common and prevalent, because with all the new sleeping pills coming out, it clearly shows that there is an increase of sleeping problems. Medications used to treat insomniacs have proved effective in allowing the person to sleep and wake at the correct times, although there is no data to prove the theory. Some of the newer drugs such as Lunesta and Ambien can make a patient psychologically dependent and cognitive behavior therapy is one of the options recommended in helping someone with insomnia. The danger of becoming addicted to a drug such as Rozerem can occur and to avoid this risk, cognitive behaviour therapy is widely prescribed by professionals, especially for people with a history of medication abuse or overuse.

Natural Insomnia Remedies

A herbal sleep aid such as chamomile, drunk as a tea can assist insomniacs to sleep better, while lavender for aromatherapy can be used to help them relax. Insomnia can also result in a deficiency of magnesium and getting the right amount has proven to improve the quality of a person’s sleeping patterns. Ciestrol natural sleep aid is a natural insomnia remedy that is very effective.

Pomegranates are also good for insomniacs, since there’s a nutrient in the fruit for everything, from immunity to cardiovascular health and they are also good for improving sleep. Insomniacs are also advised to eliminate a lot of stress and tension from their lives, because this is a triggering problem. Chinese medicine has also been introduced into helping those with sleeping disorders and other issues. A natural insomnia remedy is one choice you can use to treat an insomnia problem.

According to statistics taken from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, it’s estimated that 60 million Americans suffer from some type of insomnia and is noted to increase with age. Women are the highest rating with forty percent and thirty percent of men suffer from insomnia.

If you feel you have a sleeping disorder it is wise to visit your doctor for a full diagnosis as it is a very serious problem and should not be dismissed.
